The cap is at 60000000. Here is where each team is at: Anaheim – 33785000 Atlanta – 57878000 Boston – 43162000 Buffalo – 72660500 Calgary – 35757500 Carolina – 47360000 Chicago – 50614500 Colorado - 47510000 Columbus – 49130000 Dallas – 46380000 Detroit – 42805000 Edmonton – 79795000 Florida – 44348500 Los Angeles - 43640000 Minnesota – 64615000 Montreal – 46881560 New York Islanders – 49055000 New York Rangers - 18345000 Nashville – 44771500 New Jersey – 42735000 Ottawa – 34640000 Philadelphia – 63965000 Phoenix – 48103500 Pittsburgh – 58116500 San Jose – 14015000 St. Louis – 54910500 Tampa Bay – 43081000 Toronto – 34335000 Vancouver – 43284000 Washington - 60975000
If you are over, fix it, and you won't be able to sign any UFA. If your under, have fun with the UFA's, there are some good ones.

I understand the cap.....but
What costs constitute the cap......Only the pro roster?
2nd
How many players are carried on the Pro Roster minimum
and if players are RFA up until the age of 31......why do I have to pay 6.5 million to a 22 yr old......4.5 million to a 23 yr old.....etc.... .....how and why is this possible?
My point is in the NHL if you sign someone elses RFA it can cost you as much as 5 1st round draft picks, that's why you don't see it, but in our league the young guys who have very little leverage, especially since they don't qualify for free agency until the age of 31 are holding a gun to our heads and receiving raises that are forcing costs higher and higher.......it shouldn't be the Tukonen's( 22 years old, 9 years from free agency) of the league making 6.5 million it should be the UFA's on the open market. If were forced to pay 22 and 23 year olds and (I know that Atlanta has a 12 million dollar 23 yr old) What is the point of a salary cap? I'm sure you really don't care about my grumbling, but I'm a GM in the league now and thought I'd give my two cents.

and sorry, but being over the cap before the actual season or even pre season begins, should not stop a GM from signing free agents. By the time the season begins a lot of moves can be made to reduce one's costs right? so to penalize someone in the off season for being over the cap, which really only applies to the preseason and season seems a little unfair......especially when a GM may be carrying players on his regular roster that he has not placed on waivers or sent down. So if for instance I am only obligated to carry 2 goalies 6 dmen 12 forwards on my pro roster, only those players will count against the cap, right? Ive looked at my pro roster and the 20 players I have right now in mind to begin the season don't add up to 72 million dollars. If my understanding is wrong....please correct me.

Line 1 frolov 2.9 getslaf 4.5 tukonen 6.5 colaiacovo 900k pronger 6.2= 22million
line 2 calder4.5 allison 3.5 Jagr 4.8 shultz 450 k Vishnevski 1.6 = 16 million
line 3 Konowalchuk 2.5, Daigle 2.5, Tallackson 800 k Nordstrom 2.7 Knyazev 2= 11 million
line 4 ricci 2 Lappiere 2 maltby 2 = 6
goalies Dennis 1.2 Schwartz 2.7 = 4
The total of these players = approx. less than, 59 million
and I may use younger players on the 4th which cost 3 million less......
So how do you come up with 72 million? What am I missing in the calculation.
thanks again for helping out the "new meat".....

the Cap is at 65 million and u need to be under before season starts. Your farm and pro count against the cap.
